Summer Job Training - Topeka Way to Work is offering summer professional development training for students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors during the 2021-2022 school year. Please see the flyer or Mrs. Sloyer for details. Applications are due May 28.
Players Try-Outs and Improv Clinic - Are you interested in trying out for the improv class here at Seaman? We are having an improv clinic after school on Tuesday 5-11. This is where you can learn about improv and be prepared for the auditions. Auditions for The Players class will be Wednesday 5-12 3:30- 5:30pm. If interest please fill out an application and teacher evaluation form. Turn in these to Mr. Stauffer on Wednesday 5-12. For more questions please contact Mr. Stauffer.
Seniors - If you will be attending an educational institution after you graduate from high school, they will want a final high school transcript that verifies that you have graduated. Join the Writing Center Crew - Current freshmen interested in joining the Writing Center should submit their virtual application by Wednesday, May 19, at 3:05 pm. An email will be sent to confirm the receipt of your submission. Accepted applicants will receive a formal letter delivered to their CLP teacher. Viking Brew Crew- If you are interested in joining Viking Brew Coffee Shop next school year, please see Mrs. Dowling in W-9 for applications. Students who are members of the Viking Brew have the opportunity to apply for the Viking Brew Scholarships their senior year and receive free or discounted coffee. It is also a great source for volunteer hours. If you have questions, do not hesitate to reach out!
Volunteer Opportunity - Volunteers are needed to help distribute Harvesters this Monday, May 10th from 3:40-5:00. It is held at 1620 NW Gage. Volunteers will be loading food from pallets and putting in to cars as they drive through. If you are available and could help, please email Kelli Hegarty at Khegarty@usd345.com

CLOSE UP Washington DC Trip Virtual Meet Tonight - Tonight at 6pm there will be an online meeting for all sophomore and junior students and their parents who are interested in participation in next year's Close Up trip to Washington DC. Boys Track and Field - The boys track team was in action last Friday night at the Joe Schrag City Invitational that included the seven city schools, Silver Lake and Holton. Cadin Worcester and Cade Rothenberger both jumped well and finished second and third in the high jump. Carson Bush finished 3rd in the triple jump with his second impressive performance in as many weeks. Seaman ran away with two titles in both the 4 x 800 (Landon Stuke, Zach Jowers, Titan Cina, and Jace Moore) and 4 x 100 relays (Trey Ramirez, Cade Rothenberger, Cadin Worcester, and Adonis VanLeeuwen) by comfortable margins.
Girls Track Results - The Lady Vikes Track Team had another good day at the Joe Schrag City Invitational Track Meet. Leading the Vikings was Anna Domann with the 5A State’s best Discus throw. Anna won the event with a mark of 117’6”. Other Viking medalists that rank near the top in the state in their events were Taylin Stallbaumer taking 1st in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Bethany Druse taking 1st in the 800 meter run, and Emma Schultz taking 2nd in the 3200 meter run. The Vikings also placed 2nd in the 4x800 relay (Leah Spurlock, Tara Spencer, Brook Polter, Tristan Fangman), 3rd in the 4x100 Relay (Madison Murray, Taylin Stallbaumer, Kyley Crai, Madison Kobuszewski), and 3rd in the 4x400 Relay (Karsyn Russell, Taylin Stallbaumer, Madison Kobuszewski, Bethany Druse).
Congratulations - Congratulations to SHS freshman Adyson Cashman who is a finalist in this year's ArtEffect Competition at the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes for the creation of her mixed media painting titled "Dear Mr. Schulz." Ady's illustration depicts the heroic actions of an amazing woman named Harriet Glickman who was instrumental in encouraging artist Charles Shulz to introduce his character Franklin into The Peanuts comic strip after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Girls Swim - The Vikings Girls Swim Team place 2nd at the City meet on Friday, May 7th with 433 points winning several events. Top finishers were: 200 Medley Relay (Jordan Riggles, Avery Walz, Tuaren Walz, Gabby Grace); IM (Avery Walz); 50 Free (Tauren Walz); 100 Fly (Tauren Walz); 100 Back (Gabby Grace); 100 Breast (Avery Walz); and 400 Free Relay (Bailey Meggison, Tauren Walz, Avery Walz, Gabby Grace). Top 3 Finishes: 2nd in Diving (Sam Ingram) and 3rd in 100 Free ( Gabby Grace). The Centennial League Meet is Thursday, May 13th.
Europe Trip 2022 - If you signed up for the Europe Trip, please plan to attend our first group meeting on May 20 at 6:30 pm in the Freshmen Commons! Please talk with Frau Calhoun or Mr. Riley if you have any questions.
Boys Basketball Informational Meeting All boys that were on the basketball team this year and any other boys planning to try out next year should attend the informational meeting Thursday at 1:15pm in the West Commons.
