SAFE - The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office along with other law enforcement agencies will be increasing traffic enforcement efforts around the Shawnee County area high schools as part of the SAFE program initiative. The enforcement phase will be Feb 25th – March 8th. Officers will be focusing efforts on roadways near our high school campus and citations will be issued for those not buckled up.

Sophomores - Attention Sophomores: The SHS Bank is taking applications for the 2019-21 banking classes. If you are interested in being apart of very unique educational experience stop by the SHS Bank and pick up an application form. Applications are due by Thursday, February 28. Interviews will take place the week of March 4th thru 7th.
Scholarship Opportunity - OFG Financial Services is offering a $500 scholarship for seniors in the name of the Kansas Superintendent of the Year Finalist Dr. Steve Noble. Criteria: At least two career pathways completed at SHS, extensive participation in extra curricular activities at SHS, community service project completion, career interests clearly identified, and post-secondary education plan clearly identified. After-Glow Parent Sign Up - To All Seaman Parents: Below is the Seaman Afterglow Volunteer Sign-up Link. This includes opportunities to sell Afterglow Tickets before school and during lunch in addition to helping set up the school with games and decorations the evening of Friday, April 12th and at the Afterglow event Saturday, April 13th. This isn’t just for parents of juniors and seniors, but all Seaman parents. We need everyone’s help to put on a fun, safe after Prom event. Signup for the activities of your choice using this link. Scholarship Opportunity - Seniors: The Seaman High School Alumni Association awards two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors. Application Deadline is March 1, 2019. The application can be found on the SHS Scholarship webpage.
Cheer Try-outs - SHS Cheerleading Try-outs will be held Saturday March 22nd, clinic will be from 9:00am-12:00pm with tryouts starting at 1:00pm. There will be a parent meeting before tryouts on March 5th at 6:00pm in the High School Library. Families may park in the South parking lot. Try-Out packets will be handed out at that time. If you are unable to attend the meeting, packets maybe picked in the front office starting on March 6th. Try-outs are open to any student that will be entering 9th - 12th grade. FFA Week - In celebration of FFA Week the Seaman FFA Chapter will hide 2 paper tractors everyday around the school. If you find one bring it to Ms. VanGordon's Classroom (W-11) for a FREE MEAT STICK!
Viking Variety Show - 1)If you auditioned for the show- you are in the show. 2)If school is cancelled Wed. this week, we will still do the Viking Variety Show on Thursday Feb 21st- I just ask those of you who are in the show to arrive at 5:30pm so we can map out the show by 7 pm. 3)If school should be cancelled on Thursday of this week- we will reschedule the Viking Variety Show to a future date. Computer Updates - Students to please update your MackBook Air operating system if it is not current (upgrade to High Sierra or Mohave if you're still running El Capitan). If you need help with updating your computer operating system please see Jo Simons (C-4) or Preston Langley (front office) for help.
FINE ARTS SHOWCASE AND VIKING VARIETY SHOW - Come out this Thursday, February 21st for Seaman High School's annual Fine Arts Showcase in the commons area from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. View award winning work produced by some of our district's most talented students. Seaman's Fine Arts Booster Club will be serving cookies and coffee and selling t-shirts to patrons viewing the show. Be sure and stay and watch this year's Viking Variety Show which begins at 7:00 pm.
Informational Softball Meeting - There will be an informational softball meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21st for those ladies interested. The meeting will be held in room 925 beginning @ 6:37AM. If you have any questions, please see Coach Monhollon.
Viking Variety Show - Make plans now to see the many talented students and staff of our mighty district perform for you! The Viking Variety Show is THIS WEEK- Thursday Feb. 21st. Come view the artistic works of Seaman High School students in the commons from 5-7pm and then join us for the Variety Show in the auditorium at 7pm! Among those performing we have Dance, Singing,Sign Language, A Jazz Combo, Ganstah Poetry,Instrumentals,Comedy Sketches,Gospel Music, Dog Antics & Much Much More! Come Join in the FUN! Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. Proceeds will help to get our finalists to Nationals this summer.
Battle of the Bands - Battle of the Bands will be held on Monday February 25. Tickets go back on sale Thursday and Friday this week at all lunches. Tickets are $3 in advance $5 at the door. All tickets bought for the original date are still good.
Track & Field - Seniors and Juniors interested or planning on participating in track and field this spring can check out a locker Wednesday right after school in boys varsity locker room or girls PE locker room. Sophomore’s and Freshman please come Thursday right after school to check out your lockers. If you haven’t signed up yet, please join the Track & Field Schoology group (access code GPHV8-C37HK) and fill the google form or see coach Petersen or Coach Welch for an information form. Anyone who cannot attend after school please contact Coach Welch or Coach Petersen.
